How to Win

The purpose of the game is to score more points than your competition by answering questions correctly. These questions will test your sense of taste and smell to see if you can accurately guess the characteristics of the wine.

Setting up the Game

1. BlindVine is designed to be played with 2 or more people. Grab your friends, family, or a stranger and sit around a common living area or connect through your favorite video conferencing platform.
   
   
2. Open your BlindVine tasting kit, which includes (5) 187ml bottles of anonymized wines that are designed to be shared between two people. Arrange all five wines in order from A to E.
   
   
3. Scan the QR code provided on the card insert within your kit, and create a new account, or log in if you have an existing account.
   
   
4. The person with the most wine knowledge is typically designated as the host. If no one has any existing wine knowledge, then it’s a good thing you’re playing BlindVine! The host will create a new game, select the kit by scanning the QR code on the card insert, name the game, and invite others into a private game.
   
   
5. Open "Wine A” and pour a sampling amount in a wine glass for each player. Once everyone is ready, the host will start the game.

How to Play

1. Starting with "Wine A,” the game will simultaneously walk players through a wine tasting, starting with visual characteristics before progressing to smelling and tasting the wine.
   
   
2. Players will be asked a series of questions about the characteristics of the wine. For example, do you taste oak or butter? Do you smell fruits or herbs? Keep these answers top of mind as they will help you identify the varietal of wine you are tasting.
   
   
3. Each player will receive 1 point for each correct answer throughout the wine tasting. Players that answer incorrectly, will receive zero points and be ridiculed by everyone else. Players will also be presented with tasting tips, hints, and interesting facts along the way.
   
   
4. Prior to guessing the varietal of wine that you are tasting, players will have the opportunity to earn a hint by answering a wine-specific trivia question. This trivia question will help you identify the varietal.
   
   
5. Players are then prompted to guess the varietal of wine that they tasted, and receive 5-points if they guess correctly.
   
   
6. All players then move to "Wine B” and repeat this process for the remaining wines.
